The full sized crossover sport utility vehicle, GMC Acadia is designed on the platform of General Motors Lambda. It was first introduced in the model year 2006 as 2007 vehicle. It is offered in either four wheel drive or in front wheel drive.
First Generation (2006-Present)
The GMC Acadia model was released as a replacement to the GMC Envoy variant. The standard engine to the vehicle is 3.6 liter V6 that comes mated to 6-speed automatic transmission. The fuel tank in the engine has capacity to fill up to 18 US gallons. With the V6 engine, the Acadia model can tow maximum up to 4500 lbs. It has the seating capacity to accommodate up to 8-passengers.
As far as the exterior dimensions of the GMC Acadia model are concerned, it has the wheel base of 118.9 inches, length of 201.1 inches, width of 78.9 inches and height of 72.8 inches. The 2009 Acadia model is related to Chevrolet Traverse, Saturn Outlook and Buick Enclave. The high performance version of Acadia model is scheduled to be released in 2011.
The safety equipped in the GMC Acadia model include curtain side air bags, front side air bags, driver and passenger adjustable front seat, tire pressure monitoring system, blind spot detection, rear view mirror, and child safety system.
