Recall Information
2008 Acadia was initially recalled on June 4th 2010. Recall was due to problems in the control circuit harness fuses. However, the vehicle has also got few improvements related to the HWFS modules. These incidents resulted from the failure mode of the device’s thermal protection feature. This problem may result in heated washer module ignition and in turn lead to fire accidents.

Remedy
Dealers solved the problem by permanently disabling and removing the heated washer fluid module. You can also find an updated page in the owner’s manual stating that the feature is permanently disabled as well as removed. This 2008 GMC Acadia recall started in June 2010. The number of potential units affected in the recall was around 1365070.
